Bump discovered Valentine’s Day this year. Well, actually he discovered it last summer when we checked out a Franklin video from the library that included an episode on Valentine’s Day. After that he couldn’t wait to make his own Valentines.
A few weeks before the big day, when I was gathering supplies for all of these cards he wanted to make, we visited the fabric store for a totally unrelated sewing item. When he saw the fabric, he insisted that we get some for his cards. I’m all for inspired creativity, and since it was a 50% off sale, we grabbed 1/2 yard of a few styles.
Later on, he decided that the fabric wouldn’t work. In fact, he really didn’t want to make Valentine’s at all - although he would have gone with me making them. I bought him a box of NASCAR Valentine’s a few days before the big party at his Mother’s Morning Out program. Now what to do with the fabric?
Valentine’s Bags of course:
I made one for Bump and stuffed all of his cards in it for the trip to MMO. I also made one for my niece and a couple of zip pouches for his MMO teachers. I only have a couple of little scraps left and have cut them into blocks for a potential quilting projects.
It isn’t often that I use just about every bit of fabric. I need to do this more often.
And, this post is tardy. Very tardy. Happy Valentine’s Day!
