A run

May 6, 2007

65 minutes with Gil pushing the stroller

Today we ran together despite the incredible winds. Only in the rare wide open spaces did it really affect us. I ran hard and felt good. But my eating today has not been so good. I’m not sure if I’ve been more hungry because of the exercise I’ve done in the last few days, but I’m eating a little more than I usually would. It doesn’t help that Gil devores everything in sight on Sundays. I don’t know why. It’s just his thing!

I’d Run, but then I can’t hear the TV

May 5, 2007

44 minutes on the treadmill - running, walking and continually moving my treadmill closer and closer to the TV.

I had a nice little workout today after the boys went to bed. I watched another episode of Numb3rs. It was quite thrilling, and I must say that I missed what exactly Charlie did to figure it out. Our treadmill is loud and although I had the volume on the TV up all the way, I just couldn’t get it all. I bet my neighbors love it too since our treadmill is on our screen porch.

It was the perfect workout for a mostly rainy day!

Three Workouts (plus one)

May 3, 2007

Tuesday - 35 minute run with Bump in stroller
Wednesday - 82 minute run with Gil and Zach (I didn’t have to push the stroller.)
Thursday - 40 minute Keli Roberts Weights and 15 minute kickboxing by Shelly
Updated: I also did a 43 minute run/walk on my treadmill after my little ones went to sleep. I’m a glutton for punishment. Of course the thing that makes it all possible is my new netflix membership. I’ve got the first season of Numb3rs going right now. Now, we’ll see if I can sleep!

Gil’s been on 8s this week, so I’ve had a little easier time squeezing in some workouts. We had a great time running yesterday - even though I was darn tuckered out by the end. It was about 80 degrees and a sunny course. I’m still pondering on how I’m gong to motivate myself to get out running with the boys at 7:30 AM for my half marathon training.

I methodically went through all my summer capri pants and shorts to see what fits and what doesn’t. Most of my old clothes still are a little tight, but closer. A few things fit. It more depends on the hip width and the waistline cut than anything. I am wearing things ranging from size 6 to 12. (One pair of shorts I just got from a thrift store have lots of hip room, but a small and high waist - size 12.) I have hope of getting into my other summer things. I still have work on top, too. It’s been such a roller coaster ride.

Sunday Run

April 29, 2007

35 minutes

Just a quick one this morning - since I haven’t done anything for a few days. It was nice to be alone. I even left the iPod behind.

Some how, my pants size has gone down almost two sizes in two weeks. I’m not sure how it happened. because two weeks ago, I had stuff that I was inches away of getting into. And now - I’m in. I returned a pair of pants I bought in 10 to get a 6 - my regular size. Many of my summers 6s are fitting or nearly fitting.

It’s too weird.

Now don’t get me wrong. I still have flabby spots. My upper body and torso still need much work - and heck, my abs are still in need of toning. But I do feel like I’m finally making progress after months of standing still. And that I can actually look like a real person again instead of ‘postpartum woman.’

Keep it going

25 Minutes Ultimate Boot Camp DVD

I am insane to do this again. No I didn’t make it far. My legs are still reeling from the last time. OWWWWW! But I had to do something, and this was it. It was fun, good time and when it got tough, I got out!

My eating changes are really making a difference - in only two weeks! The thing holding me back.

The Run Around

April 25, 2007

35 Minute Run
20 Minute Walk

Day three and the legs are still killing me. But I have to workout. Bump is in his Moms Day Out program and this gives me the opportunity to put my little cherub in the stroller all by himself, taking him on a tour of my shortest running route.

I should have been back to the house in 35 minutes. Instead, 3/4 of the way through this “loop” I realized that we lost the string of toys. You know, that long linky thing you put on your stroller and attach all the baby’s favorites to. Yeah, that one. Gone. You would think I’d have learned my lesson after the drum stick. So, we turn around and head back. My legs are seriously burning and 35 minutes would have been just right. After I hit that mark, I slow down to a walk - a fast walk. We find the toys right near the entrance to the trail, a mere 5 minutes from the house. The cruel irony of it all. And I hobble home - again, as red as a beet. At least the morning sun left lots of shade for us to hide in during the actual run.

Despite my despondency on my weight situation, I did have good news today. A pair of shorts that I purchased at a thrift sale two weeks ago in the size I currently am, but they didn’t fit - fit today. My eating expedition must have made some difference somewhere. Maybe it’s the water! I celebrated by drinking another 64 oz. today. Hurray for me.

Back on the Workout Trail

April 22, 2007

35 Minutes of Ultimate Boot Camp Video

It only took me 35 minutes to figure out how desperately out of shape I really am. While I got an excellent workout, I just couldn’t go on. I already know many of my muscles will be sore tomorrow. This is my first workout in 4 days, and I had to wait until kiddo bedtime to get it in. Now, I just need to wind down so I can actually get to sleep.

I got this video from the library to try out. I haven’t done any of the Tae Bo videos. I enjoyed this one more than Turbo Jam. And really I’m starting to not like TJ as much as I initially did. Most of the workouts seem too easy - the hardest part is getting the moves down and some of those seem impossible. I’ve been working on a review of the videos, along with some of my other workout DVDs.

But I really just need to run….after all, only 4 1/2 months until the half.

Weights

April 18, 2007

40 minute sculpting video

My head is spinning. My kids are pushing me hard these days. Zach’s teething is over the top. His bedtime has disappeared and he simply throws a HUGE tantrum every time I put him down to sleep. He kicks and scratches, punches and pulls my hair. I just have to put him down because I can’t hold him at all when he gets like that. The only thing that seems to settle him is time in the Ergo, and then sometimes he still screams.

Bump is progressing with his potty training, but still needs to be reminded to go and the #2 thing he hasn’t quite got down, but today he was in the bathroom when he did his thing, just not on the toilet. He’s really been a good kid, but when he goes off, it’s off the deep end.

Sigh. I got spoiled with my parents’ recent visit. The real world is a little on overwhelm now. And the horrible weather doesn’t help. The tail winds of that nor’easter are still hanging around. Not a break until Friday. Makes pushing a stroller and running very, very, very hard.

Running and Pushing and Wind

April 17, 2007

35 minute run with the kiddos and 20 plus mile per hour winds.

Can you say, ouch. Slow. Unmotivated. Sigh. Someday this running thing will get easier. I hope it’s before the half marathon.
